Pumpkin Carving

Last night Shaun and I carved our pumpkins for out family night. Even though we have been married for almost to years this was our FIRST year carving pumpkins as a family! Last year we got pumpkins but never seemed to have time to carve them so they just sat and looked pretty through the fall season.

This year we got amazing pumpkins and we got a pumpkin carving kit that had some great templates. After picking out out templates we worked away. Shaun chose a very difficult Haunted House template, and I chose a spider and spider web...boy did we not realize what we were in for!!!

However, after A LOT of Pumpkin seed, a couple hundred dots made through paper, and sawing with knives that were either two big or two little, and aching hand...WE FINISHED!! It was totally worth it. I was so excited to light our pumpkins and set them outside to show off!

Pumpkin Time!!

Today Shaun and I decided it would be a great day to go to Pumpkin land and pick out some pumpkins and walk around the corn maze. We invited my Grandpa along with us and all three of us had a blast! That is until I hit my head trying to go down a slide that was probably too small for me in the first place. Shaun was taking a picture of me and then I turned around to go down the slide and I did not account for the ledge that was right behind me and I hit my head right into it. It kind of hurt, but not quite as much as my pride. It was a fun day at Pumpkin Land, we went through the Corn maze, and through the Light Alley (it was definitely not geared towards our age group, but nonetheless we had fun!), we went down the slide, then we went and picked out our pumpkins!!

NEW SHOES!!!

Okay everyone, yes I am blogging about new shoes! I have nothing else!! Shaun and I recently found a Macys gift card and I almost threw it out.....BUT knowing my oh so frugal husband I thought to myself, "hmm, he has probably never spent what was on this card." So I decided to call and find out the balance! I was so excited to find out there was money on it, and a good amount, not like a dollar or two!!! Well I thought, hmm what do we need...and what do we need at Macys? The answer!!! SHOES for ALYSSA!!! So today I got black Converse! I have never had Converse shoes before and I am thrilled! The only reason I really considered even buying them is because they will go PERFECTLY with my Halloween Costume! WOO HOO! I know it is silly but we have been trying hard to save any extra money we have and so shopping for something like shoes or clothes has not been at the top of our list, so this is a happy day!

As you can clearly see I really enjoy the murder mystery/ghost mystery shows. I am always ready for a good mystery! Shaun on the other hand loves Comedy! Since we both work during the day our favorite part of the day is relaxing in the evening watching a good show or two together.

Over the weekend...We watched previous episodes of The Office, Shaun went to his EMT class, I cleaned and made Taco Soup, Tres Leche, and fresh Lemonade! We went to church and taught Primary together!

We can't wait...to dress up for Halloween, to see family on Thanksgiving, and then again on Christmas!

Just a quick update so I dont have to look at the last post about our miscarriage everytime I sign in. Shaun and I are doing great. We had the awesome and lucky opportunity to have Shauns brother, Brandon and his wife Krysten, and Shaun's sister, Shannon and her boyfriend Steven, visit us over Conference weekend. It was a short visit but that sure didnt stop us from having a blast. We were able to visit Cabelas with them, Halloween USA, and The Spaghetti Factory. We don't get to see them that often so it was fun having them at out house! We look forward to having them out again for Thanksgiving along with Shaun's Dad, Jason and his awesome wife Sue!

The Unfortunate News..

Unfortunately I miscarried today. It is sad because this is the 2nd Miscarriage Shaun and I have been through. Yes I am upset, and discourage, but I also know that my Heavenly Father is watching out for Shaun and I, and he has our best interests at heart. Shaun and I both feel confident that we will have a baby soon enough, until then we are trying very hard to be patient, and look at the positive side of things. :)

This past weekend Shaun and I drove down to California to be there for his brother, Brandon's Sealing. It was a very long drive to do in two days but we are so happy we got to go. It was so amazing to be there with all of his family. All the older children, us wives and Shannon's boyfriend were there together in the Temple, and that is something that hasn't happened before. We had a great time being with family and being able to be there for Brandon and Krysten!

WE ARE EXPECTING!!!

It is blurry but it is definitely 'Pregnant'

Last Tuesday we found out that I am pregnant. We were thrilled and scared all at that same time when our pregnancy was confirmed by a blood test later that day. After our miscarriage a year ago in July and it taking me a year to get pregnant again we were worried that it might not happen naturally. Although we are so grateful and SO EXCITED we are still holding our breath but so far things are looking good. Shaun and I were also blessed with the opportunity to go to the temple and pray about it and then I received a blessing from Shaun and my Dad. I feel confident that things will go well with this pregnancy and we hope to have a new little addition next May.

What we have been up to...

August and September have sure zoomed by as we have kept busy with our jobs and a few additional things added to our schedule.

The end of August through the first week of September we watched my aunt and uncles 4 children while they were away in Hawaii working on a job with my grandpa. We had a lot of fun with the kids, and got a taste of two working parents taking care of children! We tried to make it fun to keep their minds off missing their parents by going to Pirate Island (sorry pictures taken with a phone, so blurry warning).
